B&N Nook sued over Nook Design.

It’s as If we didn’t see this coming. Barnes and Noble has been sued by a company claiming that the Nook eReader is a copy of its upcoming device. The company in question is Silicon Valley Startup Spring Design. It seems as if the company showed Barnes and Noble execs their eReader design months before the Nook appeared. This explains why Spring Design was quick to launch its website ahead of the Nook announcement. The eReader known as Alex has several of the multitouch features that are present in the Nook, as well as the dual screen functionality. I guess we will have to see where this leads, according to documents filed in court B&N Execs were under an Non Disclosure Agreement for months about the features of Alex. More via Cnet.

Welcome

This blog is all about news about the Barnes and Noble E-Reader Nook. I first saw the announcement of the  new E-Book reader on the news site Digg.com. I have always been intrigued about new and exciting technologies, the Amazon Kindle is a great product that pretty much the pioneer in the E-Reader section. What Barnes and Noble is hoping to do is innovate in the industry for which Amazon is right now the lead dog. B&N has teamed with AT&T to offer 3G connectivity to buy books over the wireless airwaves. They aim to make most titles available for $9.99 or less and some are free.

The Nook runs the mobile operating system Android that was developed by Google. This is the first such device of its kind to come with Android as its engine. So far the only other offerings of the Android operating system are Mobile Smart phones from companies such as HTC and Motorola.

Months ago B&N offered a Free E-Reader application for the Apple iPhone platform. It is a pretty good application and I was curious as to when B&N would jump into the E-Book reader business. Now is the time.

I hope to obtain a Nook to review in the coming weeks. The device itself is due to launch sometime by the end of the month of November. Check back to this site or follow me on twitter @hookedonnook.
